United Arab Emirates, Dubai, COP28, December 2, 2023
In the framework of participation in the 28th United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP28), held in Dubai, UAE, from November 30 to December 12, 2023, and in line with the national strategy for emission reduction, the Ministry of Ecology, Environmental Protection and Climate Change of the Republic of Uzbekistan has initiated the establishment of a National Emission Registry.

The Ministry of Ecology, Environmental Protection and Climate Change of the Republic of Uzbekistan and INDUSTRIAL INNOVATION GROUP have signed a Memorandum of Understanding aiming to facilitate cooperation in the creation of a National Carbon Credit System.
The Uzbekistan Emissions Registry, established through joint cooperation, represents a reliable approach to accurately assessing the nation’s environmental footprint and establishing a framework for carbon capture initiatives.
The National Uzbekistan Emissions Registry effectively creates a crucial link, acting as a comprehensive platform where organisations can routinely monitor their emissions, and carbon sequestration projects can accurately assess and publicly demonstrate their carbon removal potential. This registry serves as a unique meeting point for all stakeholders to achieve their emission reduction goals or secure financing for carbon removal projects, thereby optimising efforts to minimise the overall climate impact.
H.E. Aziz Abdulkhakimov, Minister of Ecology, Environmental Protection and Climate Change of the Republic of Uzbekistan, noted that the creation of the registry is an effective approach to addressing climate change, integrating the regulation system of existing emissions, and motivating projects aimed at reducing emissions. The Uzbek side also emphasised that the national registry is an instrument for achieving this integration.

Ms. Anna Chekanova, Vice President of INDUSTRIAL INNOVATION GROUP, also highlighted the importance of the registry being created. “The world has taken a significant step forward in addressing the climate crisis and developing technologies that can reduce emissions. Today is the crucial moment when all this knowledge and innovation must be put into action. The registry being created is a unified platform that integrates all participants of the climate ecosystem, which will contribute to the effective and practical achievement of environmental goals,” said A. Chekanova.

Mr. Taryam Matar Taryam, Chief Executive Officer of INDUSTRIAL INNOVATION GROUP, emphasised, “For Industrial Innovation Group, it is a great honour and pride to contribute to the creation of the National Emission Registry for the Republic of Uzbekistan. This collaboration demonstrates the country’s steadfast commitment to sustainable development and reducing environmental risks, which is particularly relevant in the context of global climate challenges today.”
